We're back for
another special evening of ass kicking rock and roll!!
CHECK OUT THIS REVIEW FROM THE SCENE MAGAZINE!!
Jan 17, 2007
Fun, fast, and filthier than the men's room at the old Peabody's, the Chrome Kickers were
punk before most of the genre's current practitioners were even born. Members cut their
teeth in various local outfits in the early '80s, and though the band has gigged steadily
around town for the last five years, it just got around to releasing its debut.
Street-punk enthusiasts will find the wait worthwhile; this is no futile attempt by old farts to
recapture past glories. Old-school buzz-saw guitars, sandpapery vocals, and brutal lyrics
recall the days when punk was an unglamorous lifestyle not sold in malls. Songs like "The
Gates of Hell" and the appropriately titled "I Want Violence" would be furious enough to be
mistaken for hardcore, if not for their superb melodies.

"Fresh Faces for '03" "What
happens when the Atomic Punks detonate? You get the mushroom cloud of
misanthropy
that is the Chrome Kickers. Featuring a former member of the Punks and four
other scene vets who've done time with such luminaries as the Defnics, the
Pink Holes, and the Plague, the Chrome Kickers sweat out Cleveland street
punk at its finest. Guttural, ill-tempered, and harder going down then a
shot of Wild Turkey, the Kickers are a blur of curled lips and bloody knuckles.
"Teeth are missing every fucking where," guitarist C.W. DeGidio
exclaims on a self-made live disc the band passed along to us. "Who
gives a fuck? They're only teeth," he then adds, as the Kickers tear
into another one." - Soundbites

We had
a blast playing the Uttertrash festival at the Phantasy. Apperantly, The Phantasy
loved us enough to ask us back rather soon..as in TOMORROW! So be sure to
come check us out. Also of note, we noticed that the ads Tripod was throwing
on the site were screwing things up, so being the nifty fuckers we are, they
are now gone!
On October
25th, the Kickers will be playing the Phantasy. This is a big party in celebration
of the first PRINT issue of Uttertrash. The line up is rock solid so be sure
to come out!
So far,
this summer has been pretty slammin'. The Kickers got to hang with there old
friends the Pink Holes and the Pagans, as well as playing some really great
shows. If you missed Dead End America '03, you missed a great night of Cleveland
local music (as well as missing Mike D. and CW's birthday!).
August 29th - The Beachland: Half-life, Dropgun
Sept. 13th - Rock & Roll Hall of Fame: Cheap Vinyl
Sept. 18th - Pat's in the Flats: The Crackpipes, The Hurricanes
The Page
has finally been updated. Should have appeared back on the second, but after
a few people mentioning that the site was still not updated, I went back and
checked the server. The problem is now taken care of.
Summer
Gigs have been posted, so be sure to check us out. Two punkfests and a Beachland
gig. Should be a fun summer.
That's
right. The Rock & Roll Voodoo Daddies have spoken and it is GOOD! CW DeGidio
has put together a two day punkfest at the Kickers favorite cavern: Annabells.
The Lineup is as follows:
Day 2: The Wanteds, Waiting For Evangeline, Reason 7
(featuring Mike Sherwood of the Kickers), Standing 69's, and Labor
Force
Come out, drink beer, and don't forget to tip the bartender!
Bob
and Scott had an oppurtunity to talk with the guys at Uttertrash eZine, the
interview can be found here: http://www.uttertrash.net/chromekickers
.htm
Check it out!
Hey
crew. Been a little bit. Your wonderous webmaster lost his net connection
and finally got back online last week. But, the big news is as follows: We
have been in the studio working our asses off trying to get the single finished
and getting some tracks laid down for the full release wich will be out by
summer. We've got some big shows coming, most noteably will be the
Annabell's
1st Annual Dirty, Filthy Punk Fest. This isn't one of those ticket
selling schemes, this is the legit DIY thing. Lineup highlights already include
Chrome Kickers, Dropgun, and Don Austin. Stay tuned
for more details.
Friday
(Jan. 10) was a great show. We wanna thank everybody for braving our wonderful
North East Ohio weather and coming out. Everybody who played deserves a PBR
pronto! The Anti-Socialists gave us a lot to chew on with their 100% Cleveland
bred political punk. The Jacknife Powerbombs had to be one of the most energetic
bunch I have seen in a long time. As for the Squirts, their hybrid of good
punk and comedy will be missed. If you see any these guys, buy them a beer...they
deserve it. Thanks for the good times guys!
In
case you missed it, here is the write from Scene Magazine:
All the
hard work is paying off! We were recently contacted by Scene
magazine about appearing in an article that will be in either next week or
the week afters issue. Rather than tell you what the article is going to say,
your gonna have to dig up a copy of the Scene to find out.
We had
a great time last week at Annabell's. Dropgun and Criminal Authourity came
out and helped make the show a classic gig. There were some minor problems
concerning all the minors that showed up, but we are happy to say that Annabell's
came through for us. For future reference, those of you under 21 are gonna
have to pay $2 to get in.
What
an experience. Although we didn't get the time slot we expected, we wanna
thank all of you who waited till we came on and who bought tickets from us.
Thanks for the support.
